Drug Treatment Centers in California: Drug Treatment in Southern California

Southern California is a world wide vacation destination and tourist attraction. With its beautiful weather year round and breathtaking beach atmosphere it has long since been a dream like summer playground.

With that said what better place to build a drug treatment center? To take a person that has been living in isolation, loneliness, and despair and place them in heavens playground, they are sure to recover, right?

WRONG!

Southern California is a money making hot spot and the Drug Treatment Center business here has turned in to just that…a business. It is not about helping sick people recover anymore. It has become an over priced resort with luxurious amenities and and over analyzed care programs.

Does It Make More Sense to Put CHEMICALLY ADDICTED People in PRISON for POSSESSION or in REHAB?

Question by Bush is not conservative: Does it make more sense to put CHEMICALLY ADDICTED people in PRISON for POSSESSION or in REHAB?
Addiction is an illness. Narcotics abuse is an illness. Logically, the purchasing, possession and abuse of a drug by an addict is as much of a health concern as it is a legal one.

Narcotics abuse is undoubtedly a more emotionally complicated crime than other nonviolent offenses such as theft and vandalism, but early attempts to curb abuse lacked the necessary breadth to get addicts clean. Incarceration is not an effective method of freeing drug users from the substances on which they depend.

Drug Addiction Stories: What Most Drug Addiction Stories Don’t Tell You

What I as a recovering junkie have found is that drug addiction stories seem to get glamorized in the movies, novels and other sources. Typically they will look at an addict and tell a story about them, but they never really get into the essence of what it is to be an everyday street addict.

Most of the time the character playing the addict comes from a wealthy home or a complete slum, but there is never really focus on the middle of the line junkie, the junkie who wakes up, has a fix and then begins to plan their day around their next fix. This unfortunately is very often the way that most drug addiction stories happen in reality.

Drug Rehab Treatment- Lowering the Drinking Age: The Dark Side of Prescription Drugs

“I lost everything when the police raided my house looking for prescription drugs. My husband and two little children were home that night. I was so ashamed I couldn’t even look at them. I was arrested, put in handcuffs and locked up. My husband divorced me. My children were taken away from me. I knew I had hit bottom.”
