National Institute on Drug Abuse: Drug Abuse

Use of illicit drugs like marijuana, cocaine and heroine and overuse of prescription drugs has been responsible for creating serious medical complications, destroying many family lives and creating problems for schools and communities. Spencer Recovery Centers offers a Christian drug and alcohol treatment track for individuals who are having difficulties with alcohol and drug dependence. Christian treatment is different from typical rehabilitation facilities because it emphasizes Jesus Christ as the Higher Power referred to in all other 12 step recovery centers. In an effort to please their clients who do not believe and have not read the bible, many facilities do a disservice to their clients by not emphasizing that it is God alone who has the power to relieve you from your addiction to drugs and alcohol.

Christians: How to Correctly Deal With Drug Addiction/anxiety/depression?

Question by Luke: Christians: How to correctly deal with drug addiction/anxiety/depression?
I’m unfortunately addicted to a degree and have problems with drugs. Nothing illegal, thank god, I’m not that stupid, but I’ve been taking prescription drugs for anxiety, etc, and all sorts of other supplements, etc, caffeine being the least of my problems.
Drugs for depression, mostly over the counter, drugs for anxiety, mostly prescription, and other supplements/vitamins ,etc.

The problem is, It’s REALLY hard to distinguish what’s anxiety, to what’s depression, and to what’s spiritual weakness and lack of faith. It’s hard separating emotion from instinct and spirituality.

This can be as simple for many people as visiting a pharmacy and filling out a form giving their name, address and the drug they want. This is then returned to the surgery for the doctor to countersign. The problem is that these can often be signed as routine, rather than consideration being given to the need, and so facilitating prescription drug abuse.
