I have full legal custody and share physical custody of my godson. My uncle and I share physical custody on a weekly basis. The mother has visitation but hasn’t seen the child in over a year, to my knowledge. I am moving this week. I plan to keep my godson in school in Philadelphia until the end of the year. But I have made arrangements for him to attend camp in Delaware. My current custody agreement is to split the week with my uncle. However we do not because he is incapable of getting the child to school on time the only school day that he does have him and has a background of doing so with him before I had custody. I would still like for my uncle to see the child but I don’t want him to have custody or have any decision making rights. My uncle is currently living in section 8 housing illegally the lease is only for his girlfriend and her grandsons which are my godsons half brothers. If we went to court he could not provide a lease proving his residence. I am moving into a house that my boyfriend bought so we can save money for our future plans and vacations. My uncle is not employed but collects disability. He is always asking me for for school clothes so he doesn’t have to buy it. I have a full time job 9-5 working some days from home to accommodate my godsons schedule. I provide everything for him except medical insurance. He is on my uncles. I currently have him in an all boys choir that he enjoys but when my uncle has him he doesn’t take him. I also have reason to believe my uncle is on someone else’s prescription meds again but I can’t currently prove it. He also allows my godson to play adult rated video games and movie that I do not approve of. Are these reasonable grounds for changing the custody order? Do I need to provide a lease if my boyfriend owns the house we live in? How can I validate my suspicion of drug abuse? Can my uncle obtain physical or legal custody if I am a better financial provider and can offer my godson a better childhood?

I am recently deciding to go into rehab for my meth addiction. I want to be in a place that’s flexible enough to where i can still see my family but yet keep me from straying away. I want a place where counseling is available free housing, food etc.. and when its time for me to leave i want the same place to help me find a job. Is there anywhere in the phoenix or laveen area where this is available.?

My girlfriend got a DUI in Georgia about a year ago and is still on probation. She failed her first drug test for alcohol (which she thought would be acceptable. she is 22!!). Court ordered that she goes to 90 AA meetings (so far shes gotten 4-5 meetings/week) and get drug tested each week… Last week we found out she failed a test for cocaine (not a normal user) and has now been in jail for 6 days now. Her court is in 3 more days and I have arranged for a court appointed lawyer (no $ for expensive one!!) What kind of penalty should we expect for this? Please, someone with experience in violation of probation cases…
Is she looking at jail time, boot camp, house arrest, or rehab?? and how long will it be?

I know she makes stupid choices. You and I both do also… Please do not tell me to break up with someone I’m in love with because Its not going to happen. I want a serious answer please.
Well I figured I’d contribute a real life answer to anyone who researches this question… She had a court appearance today. The judge revoked her probation totaling a year and a half left (if she stays the entire sentence she will probably get this time cut in half or serve around 9 or 10 months). She is up for review in 30 days after getting a drug evaluation at the jail (so they can learn her problems, i guess). Hopefully in 30 days they will make her go to rehab for a few months or something that will help her learn how to handle her life instead of spending time in jail. And by the way… You are not eligible for a court appointed lawyer in the state of Georgia when you violate probation on a technical status like hers (drug test), you have to actually get arrested and add a new charge to violate your probation to receive a court appointed lawyer. Its like she may have been better off getting caught with cocaine on her person when she was arrested…Hope this helps someone!
