I’m planning on doing a documentary for one of my classes. My topic is drug addiction and I figured it would be good to get a few shots of rehabs and conduct interviews with patients as well as counselors.

You can probably interview the counselors and get a few shots of the drug rehabs, but I doubt if you would be able to interview the patients. Drug rehabs can be really stringent when it comes to the privacy of the patients. Read more...

Career in Substance Abuse?

Question by dude: career in substance abuse?
I am thinking about taking some college classes and becoming a substance abuse counselor. How Long does school take and is the job outlook good? I am looking for feedback from people who actually work in this field. Whats the job like?

You can do some limited substance abuse counseling with only a bachelor’s degree. But it’s usually focused on education and making sure the person sticks with the treatment plan. With a master’s degree, you can do more, and address other issues, and be a part of a treatment team. Getting a doctorate, you can do all the above, plus be the primary counselor/therapist for the individual. Read more...

Tell me your opinion on the subject. Why do you think people take this stuff?It helps them as much as they think?And if they see that it doesn’t make any good to them why they continue to take them? I have a homework to do on the subject and I’m not very familiar with it. 😐
