The are doing that because Nebraska passed a law that does not limit the age that you can drop a child off at a “safe” place and not get punished for it.
I would say yes, it would probably happen if other states had the same law.

In general, it is not bad. The things that could make it bad are:
1) Does it interfere with your other aspects of life?
2) Is it appropriate for your age?
3) Are you interested in people near your own age or anyone that wants to please you?
4) Can you have a meaningful relationship?
On the plus side, depending on where you live it could be a match between job and life’s ambition. In Nevada for instance it is a respected trade and has full medical benefits.
