Are the Courts Usually Awarding Children in a Custody Battle to the Parent Who Is Better for the Children?

Question by bigtime613: Are the courts usually awarding children in a custody battle to the parent who is better for the children?
Are they biased like they always were or have things really changed? I mean, there still is an overwhelmingly strong winning in favor of mothers. Don’t tell me that mothers are usually better since father’s rarely bother fighting unless they feel there is a need to take the children away from the mother. Then why aren’t fathers usually winning?

Actually, from what I have seen they tend to favour awarding the child to the mother even when the father would make a better parent. And no, I have never found myself in that situation. I just see what I see working with the court system.
